Tim Jones Challenge – the Worcester Ring – Sunday 3 July 2022

The Tim Jones Challenge (the Worcester Ring) is our 20 mile circular event through the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. We also have the shorter 15 miles Offerton Cruise. It is open to canoes, kayaks, SUPs and anything else you may care to paddle (although we think K4s are too long to get round the corners…).

It’s a varied, interesting circular course on mostly canals with some river. It’s fully marshalled with food and water stops, food and showers at the end. And a challenge, definitely a challenge.

Full details at https://worcester-ring.org/ or email us at worcesterring@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

The River Severn turning into the canal, with Worcester Cathedral in the background.

Worcester Hasler entries now open

Entry is now open for Worcester Halser on the 8th of May. We are aware of an issue with the online payment system so will be taking payments on the day and not charging the paying on the day fee however if you could please bring cash that would be very much appreciated.

With Worcester also hosting the marathon national championships this is an excellent opportunity to come and try out the course.

And we are open again (more or less)

Happily, club activities resume on the river on Monday 29 March. We will have access to the boatshed to store boats (but not to the changing rooms until mid-April).

We are hoping to start some introductory taster sessions for beginners in April 2021 (river level dependent), if you are interested in joining a session please see getting started and then email coachingcoordinator@hotmail.com. Everyone welcome (as long as you don’t mind getting wet), we have specific sessions for juniors (under 18s).

The Canoe Club is Back

We reopened at the end of May for members to resume paddling. There is socially distanced access to the boathouse, but unfortunately for health and safety reasons, the gym, changing rooms, showers and social area cannot be used.

We are not currently running any beginners courses but it is possible we may be able to by the end of the Summer / early Autumn (it gets too cold after that). If you are interested you can contact us at coachingcoordinator@hotmail.com. If you are an experienced paddler who would like to join or have any other queries, please contact worcestercc@yahoo.co.uk
