The Club are sorry to hear of the passing of Bryan Harrison, who has died after suffering a long illness. He was the early member who introduced the club to Slalom & owned the canvas folding kayak in the stair well. We will circulate further details when they are available.
When the weather and river become more suitable for new paddlers we hope to run a number of courses for beginners. These will be 6 weeks in total and introduce you to the club and the kayaking. The price is £65 ( the first week free as a trial) which includes coaching , kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids. We hope you will have enjoyed it so much you will want to join as a member and the £65 will be taken off the membership fees. We will then run an intermediate course for you. I’m aiming to start an adults course on Monday 29th April at 6pm. For kids ( and parents who want to try) we run a very popular course on a Thursday at 5:30pm starting after the Easter holidays on May 2nd. We also have the offer of intermediate courses on Sundays at 11am and Thursday evenings starting after Easter weekend for anyone who wants to join the club and go for a scenic low
speed paddle and improve their technique. There is always the chance of getting wet with canoeing so bring adequate clothes in which to paddle in and a change of clothing to go home in. We have good changing facilities with hot showers.

Hi. Thanks to lots and lots of hard work by Sue Hawthorne and Simon Davies we are now able to vote on whether to incorporate the club – for it to become a limited company.
Please see the rationale for doing so, the Articles of Association and the Bye Laws. These can still be amended and will be reviewed by a lawyer. Please note I am not intending to print copies of these out for everyone for the AGM.
- We will be voting on the club becoming limited company.
- If you can’t make it please vote by proxy by emailing the club at email@example.com
- Nominations for Officers are now open, I will put a sheet up on the noticeboard. Volunteers are always very welcome – if you want to discuss please grab me or another member of the Committee. Various roles are likely to be unfilled.
- If you have any resolutions you would like the AGM to vote on please let me know shortly.
We are shocked and saddened to hear that Alistair Collier is missing at sea. He was taking part in a GB Outrigger Canoe Association race off the Dorset coast yesterday, and is still missing. According to media reports, the search has resumed today, led by the Coastguard and involving RNLI lifeboats and the police. Alistair is a valued member of the club and a keen paddler.
I don’t have any further information on the circumstances. We can but hope he returns safely. Our thoughts are with him, his family and friends.
Please DO NOT drill a hole in your new key card. It will stop them working.
Club key holders should be aware that the rear entry door has changed and that their existing key will no longer work. New keys can be exchanged for old keys by contacting Fess – who will be at the Club on Sunday morning at 9am or Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5pm until 6pm.
Please let me know of any issues using firstname.lastname@example.org .
