Wildlife and walls

With thanks to Robin, some photos of the local turtle / terrapin / sea monster*. Any suggestion for names? Apparently this was taken at some risk, possibly of being viciously snapped.

It has been around for a few years now, and can be found sunning himself by the banks in the Summer. Presumably it hibernatates in the winter.

And finally, the building works on the retaining wall are well in progress:

Bryan Harrison

The Club are sorry to hear of the passing of Bryan Harrison, who has  died after suffering a long illness.  He was the early member who introduced the club to Slalom & owned the canvas folding kayak in the stair well.   We will circulate further details when they are available.

Incorporation – to be voted on at the AGM

Hi.  Thanks to lots and lots of hard work by Sue Hawthorne and Simon Davies we are now able to vote on whether to incorporate the club – for it to become a limited company.

Please see the rationale for doing so, the Articles of Association and the Bye Laws.  These can still be amended and will be reviewed by a lawyer. Please note I am not intending to print  copies of these out for everyone for the AGM.

Regard,

Julian

Alistair Collier

Alistair Collier

We are shocked and saddened to hear that Alistair Collier is missing at sea.  He was taking part in a GB Outrigger Canoe Association race off the Dorset coast yesterday, and is still missing.  According to media reports, the search has resumed today, led by the Coastguard and involving RNLI lifeboats and the police.  Alistair is a valued member of the club and a keen paddler.

I don’t have any further information on the circumstances.  We can but hope he returns safely.  Our thoughts are with him, his family and friends.
