Amy Green Wins World Championship Silver for Worcester Canoe Club

Worcester Canoe Club is celebrating an outstanding international achievement after Amy Green claimed a silver medal at the 2026 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada.

Representing Great Britain against the world’s best Under 23 paddlers, Amy produced a superb performance in the Women’s U23 K1 200m Final, crossing the line in 41.40 seconds to secure the silver medal. It marks the biggest achievement of her career to date and confirms her place amongst the world’s leading young sprint kayakers.

Having progressed confidently through the heats and semi-finals, Amy delivered when it mattered most, producing an exceptional race under pressure to stand on the World Championship podium. Her silver medal was Great Britain’s first podium finish of the championships and highlighted the strength of the British sprint programme.

Amy’s success is the reward for years of dedication, hard work and commitment, both on and off the water. Training daily with Paddle UK WCP while balancing the demands of elite sport, she has steadily progressed through the national talent pathway to become one of Britain’s leading sprint athletes.

Everyone at Worcester Canoe Club is immensely proud of Amy’s achievement. Her success provides inspiration for the club’s younger paddlers and demonstrates what can be achieved through determination, perseverance and a passion for the sport.

Amy’s silver medal is another landmark moment in Worcester Canoe Club’s proud history of developing international athletes and provides an excellent launch pad for her career.
