June Regatta

June regatta was nationals for the Juniors, U23s and Masters. What was a very sunny flat regatta last year was a very windy regatta this year with some lovely crosswinds for racers to enjoy. This wind didn’t stop the Worcester team in getting some amazing results.

This regatta saw our chairman race the k1 1000m and win 2nd in his age category! Well done Dave!

Rach raced in the k2 500m and took home gold!

Amy and Katie raced in the U23s. The first race was k1 500m, Katie came 7th in her heat just missing out on the final and Amy came 3rd in the final. Katie then went on to come 7th in the 1000m final. Amy then hopped in a boat with a Southampton paddler to come 3rd in the mixed k2. Next was the k4 in which Amy came 1st and Katie came 2nd. Sunday morning was the k2 500m in which 2 worcs/Notts crews took part. Amy took 2nd and Katie took 4th. Last race for the U23 girls was the eventful k1 200m where Amy took 2nd.

Evie raced in U18s taking an amazing 4th place in the k1 200m and 9th in the 500m final.

Tamzin was in the U16s coming 9th in the 1000m final and 7th in her 500m heat.

Tom raced in the intermediates coming 7th in his 500m heat. With his k2 partner he took 3rd in both the 500m and 200m.

Freddy raced the U16s coming 3rd in final 2 of 1000m k1, 5th in his 500m heat and in combined u18/16 k2 he came 9th in k2 1000m, 6th in k4 and just missed out on the final in k2 500m. Very well done I’m crew boats considering most crews were older!

Fergus, Doogal, Louis and Finn all raced U14s. Starting with the k1 500m Louis came 3rd with Doogal in 5th and Fergus in 6th. Louis then went on to race the 1000m coming out on top taking the gold. Time for the k2s, Louis continued this winning streak coming first in both k2 500 and 1000 with Doogal coming in a closely in 2nd place and Fergus (who was actually racing up in u14s as he is 12) came 4th. Doogal, Tom and Louis then combined forces to take the gold in the k4 500m with Finn taking 8th. Finn also raced mixed k2 with Evie in U18s where they came 8th in final 2.

Lochie raced in the U18s. In both k2 500m and 1000m he claimed 5th place. He then went on to take 5th in k1 1000m and 4th in final 2 of 500m. In the penultimate race of the weekend in the Junior boys k4 race (which was great to watch that many K4s on a start line in Nottingham) he claimed 3rd place.

Well done everyone. Some amazing results as always and great to see the hard work paying off.
