Informal Race Morning – Sunday 22nd January

Please come and join us for a morning of racing on Sunday 22nd January

It would be good to see a good turnout of Worcester paddlers along with paddlers from other clubs. Download printable version of these details here:  january-race-morning

These races can be used as evidence for juniors wishing to be considered for GENT along with the regional duathlons and Nottingham time trials.

Two / Three Races

2Km circuit race followed by

6Km circuit race (3 laps) including portage if river level allows

Optional 3rd Race 2km if sufficient demand …. or more!!!

Just a 10 minute paddle around between races to recover.

Late addition – For those who are really keen racing will be followed by either a long paddle or a run depending on river level and temperature – bring an extra set of kit and running shoes if you are keen.

Number and divisions of starts will be arranged depending on numbers aiming for 10 – 20 per start line. There will be no entry fee and no prizes but fully timed positions. Results will be posted on this website with suitable praise for out-standing performance of whatever nature.

Suitable for those with appropriate skills and kit to be on the river in January. Typically divs 1-6 plus those of lower division with good experience and / or coaches recommendation to paddle. Paddlers will be expected to stop and assist anyone in difficulty. Buoyancy aids and boat buoyancy compulsory for all divisions. General BUC rules to apply.

Email entries to suehawthorn@btinternet.com if possible to make entries easier on the day. Bring a number board. Phone 01886 833308 with queries.

Aim for on the water for a warm up 9:45 to 10am.

First race 10am.

Second race after first race finish plus 10 minutes (or less by agreement if cold).

For direction to the club check on  https://worcestercanoeclub.org/contact-us/

For river level look at https://worcestercanoeclub.org/river-levels/

Anything above 1.1m is over the wooden landing stage and the river is getting more challenging especially with rowing boats around on a Sunday morning.
